Scout Badge (Joining Requirements)
The Scout badge is normally the easiest and fastest award earned. In fact, Cub Scouts who received their Webelos Badge or Arrow of Light award already studied and learned many of the Scout rank requirements.
It is not a rank, but this badge is awarded to the newest scouts when they turn in the completed scouting application; say the Pledge of Allegiance; show the Scout sign, show the Scout salute; demonstrate the Scout handshake (normal handshake but with the left hand); tie the square knot; agree to live by the Scout Oath (aka Promise), Scout Law, motto, slogan, and the Outdoor Code; describe the Scout badge; with a parent (or guardian) complete the ''How to Protect Your Children from Child Abuse: A Parent's Guide'' booklet exercises; and complete the Scoutmaster conference.
No merit badges are required for the Scout badge. Also there is no time requirement.
