Special Events
Several traditional BSA special events give scouts the opportunity to interact with scouts and Scouters from other troops.

- This is a Scouting festival that involves both Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts from a district or council. The public is invited to attend to see the Scouting program in action. Troops and packs set up booths that feature demonstrations, games, and cooking. At some Scout-O-Ramas, scouts can earn merit badges and participate in adventures like climbing rock walls.
- Camporee
- [font=,style=sameline, leftmargin=,]
- This is an annual district or council event where troops compete as patrols in competitions that include scout skills like first aid, knot tying, fire building, emergency preparedness, orienteering (compass), pioneering (lashing), and cooking. A camporee typically takes place over a weekend campout and may be planned around a theme. There is usually a campfire with skits and songs and an awards ceremony on the final day.
- National Jamboree

- BSA holds a National Jamboree once every 4 years (with the exception of 2010, which was held after 5 years to coincide with the 100th anniversary of Boy Scouts of America). Referred to by many attendees as Jambo, this event is an experience a scout will never forget. Scouts who attend are placed into special Jambo troops at the council level and up to 18 months of preparation takes place. During Jamboree, scouts have the opportunity to participate in activities, watch demonstrations and trade patches. Recent Jamborees have been held at Fort A.P. Hill in Virginia and attended by more than 40,000 scouts and leaders and visited by 300,000 members of the public. In 2013, National Jamboree will be held at the new Summit Bechtel Family National Scout Reserve in West Virginia and will include High Adventure activities.
- World Jamboree

- The World Organization of the Scout Movement
(WOSM) hosts a World Jamboree every four years in different locations throughout the world. About 30,000 — 40,000 scouts (both boys and girls) and leaders have attended recent World Jamborees in Thailand, the United Kingdom, and Sweden. In 2019, World Jamboree will be held at the Summit Bechtel Family National Scout Reserve in West Virginia.
