Scoutmaster Conference
All ranks require a Scoutmaster conference. This is a short interview (usually ten to 15 minutes) with the scout and his leader to discuss scouting (and life) goals and likes and dislikes in scouting. The Scoutmaster may also review the scout's current rank requirements and ongoing progress at this time. The scout should make sure all his current requirements are completed as applicable before contacting his Scoutmaster to setup the conference appointment. The scout is not retested. While it is generally for rank advancements, it may be useful to hold Scoutmaster conferences for all boys every few months to discuss their progress. In some units, an Assistant Scoutmaster may do the conference.
Ask your Patrol Leader or Scoutmaster to discuss how to prepare for the Scoutmaster conference. Commonly, the Scoutmaster conference is done as part of an outing or during a troop meeting. Note that the interview is not private — the Scoutmaster must follow the no one-on-one contact policy (see page [Two-deep Leadership and No One-on-one Contact]) by having the conference in a public place within view of other scouts and leaders.
